How Acupuncture can help youAcupuncture promotes the even flow of qi - our vital energy, relieving stress, tension and pain, creating a deep sense of relaxation. The body's own self-healing is activated in this deeply relaxed state.
Accupuncture assists in treating not only immediate symptoms, but also underlying constitutional imbalances by improving overall health and immune system. Many people say they feel greater energy and focus following a course of Acupuncture.
Accupuncture is as effective in treating either acute or chronic conditions and avoids side effects. Early treatment of minor symptoms can help prevent more serious health problems worsening or even developing.
Traditional Chinese Medicine - TCM, offers a holistic approach to gynaecological conditions, infertility and child health. Treatments offered include acupuncture, acupressure, shiatsu, moxibustion, facial rejuvenation acupuncture, auricular acupuncture, electro-acupuncture and cupping.
The World Health Organisation has recognised Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as being effective in treating a wide range of conditions including unusual or unconsidered concerns like child health, infertility, facial rejuvenation acupuncture, auricular acupuncture and a whole range of other issues from high blood pressure to insomnia and infertility. For the range of symptoms treated go to Symptoms & Treatment page.
How Cupping can help youMany people prefer to receive cupping from my Camden, London clinic as a complement to acupuncture or as a separate treatment. The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practice of Cupping has many therapeutic uses – it can help to expel colds and sore throats, relieve neck, shoulder and back tension, remove toxins and brings pain relief. I only practice dry cupping for hygiene reasons. Again, for the range of symptoms treated at my Acupuncture & Cupping London Clinic go to Symptoms & Treatment page.
About RachelMy experience working as a bodywork therapist has increased my sensitivity as an acupuncturist working with people at a physical and emotional level. I have always been fascinated by the relationship between mind, emotions and the body. This interest led me to study ITEC diplomas in Aromatherapy. I then undertook a three year professional training in Shiatsu and Oriental medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine at The Shiatsu College, London.
In order to improve my diagnostic and treatment skills I subsequently completed 3 year BSc (hons) degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture which embraces both western and Chinese medicine. Modules included Western anatomy, physiology, pathology and pathophysiology.
I have over 25 years experience treating people in private practice, companies, community day centres, residential homes and at health centres. I have enjoyed teaching and passing on my skills to others. Besides developing my own acupuncture and cupping private practice in Camden, Kentish Town & Belsize Park, London. My approach is to help people understand about their individual condition and disharmony : help them to help themselves feel better through diet, exercise and meditation.
Special interests include working with Fertility, IVF, maintaining a healthy pregnancy -gynaecology issues, auto-immunity, Insomnia and anxiety. I also specialise in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture (Cosmetic) and offer this service in Camden in central London.
I am an accredited member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the national organisation that represents all professionally qualified Acupuncturists. BAcC requires all its members gain the correct training with an accredited institution. The British Acupuncture Council ensures all its members follow a strict code of practice as regards hygiene and ethics, to ensure health and safety for the general public.
I gained my BSC (hons) Acupuncture after completing a full time, three year BSc course in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at Westminster University.
Initial Assessment & ConsultationI may ask you many questions about your diet, health and family history, lifestyle, digestion, sleeping and emotions. And I will look at your tongue and pulse to further diagnose your individual health pattern. Your signs and symptoms enable me to identify which systems or areas of the body need special attention and help me to determine my treatment priority.
